A Hixson home went up in flames on Thursday night.

It happened around 8:20 p.m. on Rock Bluff Drive in the Hidden Harbor subdivision.

Hamilton County EMS officials say no one was hurt in what they describe as a "large house fire."

The homeowner said he smelled something burning and eventually found heavy smoke in the garage.

Two men and an elderly woman safely made it out of the house.

The Red Cross is helping the family with a place to stay.

The cause and damages are unknown at this time.

The fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
